Saturday Smile #2

smile1Saturday Smile is a weekly feature hosted over on Feeding on FollyToday’s Saturday Smile features these adorable little critters, who are a constant source of smiles for me every day…not just Saturdays. But seeing how today is cage cleaning day…they are today’s source of amusement.

As I mentioned in a previous post, one of the best gifts I ever received was my first ferret, Samantha, back in 2010. She was a birthday gift from my boyfriend, who isn’t the really the best gift giver…but this year he did good!

We happened to be in the pet store right before closing a day or so before my birthday, and while he was getting some mice for his snake’s dinner, I was distracted by this adorable little ferret in the cage. Of course, one of the sales people offered to let me hold her…I know now, this is never a good thing for me!! Good for the animal…because they tend to come home with me…but not so good for me, as this is how my home has become filled with a menagerie of animals. Which in the grand scheme of things, really isn’t a bad thing…cause I couldn’t imagine life without animals.

Samantha, was my first ferret…5 years later, we have had 8 ferrets (one special boy, Milo, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge about a year ago)…which leaves 7. Not only have I learned that holding little ones in pet stores is dangerous…I have also learned that I am not such a good foster parent either…cause they tend to stay forever (ooopps!!)

Had I known how awesome these little critters were years ago, I am sure I would have gotten them sooner. Ferrets are adorable and so amusing! They are like having a litter of kittens around…playful, silly, very mischievous, and oh so adorable!!! These little faces bring a smile to my face every day!

And I hope they might bring a smile to your face today 🙂
