Sunday Snippets of Inspiration #1

InspireAs Blogging 101 wraps up, I am continuing to apply various things from the assignments to my blog and one of the latest assignments was to create a regular feature in order to give you, dear readers, a reason to keep coming back 🙂

As a result of this assignment, I have come up with a few different possible ideas for regular features that I would like to incorporate in some fashion. One such idea is Sunday Snippets of Inspiration. Who wouldn’t benefit from an inspiring scripture or quote or song to remind us that there is still good in this world?

For the past 10-plus years I have been earning a living by running a small pet sitting company which involves lots of time spent in the car driving from one customer’s house to another…so I tend to have lots of ‘free’ time to think about ‘life’ while I am driving. As a consequence of all this driving, a few years ago, I stumbled across a new (to me anyway) contemporary Christian radio station in our area (Klove.com)…and since finding K-love, my car radio is always tuned in to this station. Their mission is “to create compelling media that inspires and encourages you to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.” And there little jingle is “Positive, Encouraging K-love.”

I am so grateful to have stumbled across this station because listening to the songs and stories, that are ‘positive and encouraging’, that are shared throughout the day, keeps me from dwelling on all the negativity that is so easy to find all around us. Most typical media outlets are filled with the news stories of hate, terrorism, greed and violence that are so prevalent in society today…and when you spend so much time alone and in your car you can’t help but dwell on these things and begin to wonder “Where is God in all of this?”

One such song that I often hear on K-love is [easyazon_link identifier=”B000TE0LA6″ locale=”US” tag=”scrmus06-20″]Amazing Love[/easyazon_link] by the Newsboys that always seems to break through the ‘noise’ in my head while I am driving and the words bring me to tears every time I hear it!

These words break into my consciousness and distract me from the preoccupations of this world  and hit me like a punch to the chest…

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, should die for me?
Amazing love and I know it’s true
And it’s my joy to honor You, in all I do to honor You

Find things that help you to stay ‘positive and encouraged’ in a sometimes not so positive and encouraging world…whether through a radio station like K-love or seeking out inspired news worthy events and stories…things that show you that goodness and kindness still reside here on Earth.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)

Please consider joining me on Sundays and share your Snippets of Inspiration too! Don’t for get to link back here so I can be inspired by what keeps you encouraged in this, sometimes crazy, messed up world 🙂

      1. Well, I wanted to see what you’ve got going on over here 🙂 I love the look of your theme, too. I no longer follow blogs through email ’cause I had to develop a different “manual” system, so I’ll be popping in, just not after each post. It’s been months since I’ve been able to consistently visit the 150+ blogs I follow ’cause I was dealing with health stuff and conference prep, but I’m hoping I can get back into routine some time soon 🙂
