This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday is a photo I took yesterday morning. As I mentioned last week tree stalking is one of my all time favorite fall things to do! I can’t help it. I am obsessed! Leaves have really only just started turning but every day they are better than the day before! I was worried at the end of summer that fall might not be that pretty cause we didn’t get too much rain and things were looking pretty pathetic. But this fall has been spectacular so far!

This tree happens to be on the grounds at my church and I have actually taken a couple of different pics of it because it just keeps getting more beautiful. And the day before I drove by my church building and I saw this tree peeking above the building and was excited to go to work (I work about 10 hours a week at my church as the Office Administrator) the next day to see it. When I drove around the building, this tree literally took my breath away and I gasped out loud!

I think it is absolutely stunning…but I may be a little biased…as well as crazy obsessed with the fall foliage!

And just in case you too might be obsessed with fall foliage…here are a few more for your view pleasure…

A story in a single image

Assignment #4 for Writing 101 at Blogging University is to create a story from a single image. Images — including photographs and works of art — can also act as starting points for stories, essays, poems, and personal musings. For this exercise, use one of the images provided as the creative spark for today’s post. You might use it as the setting for a story or poem, write about how it makes you feel, or describe a memory conjured by it.
Window

For today’s assignment I chose this image of a window. For me this window images inspires a memory from my childhood. It reminds me of the loft of our barn growing up.

We grew up on a small farm in Massachusetts. It was only a 2-acre piece of property but we managed to make the most of it. We had a huge garden, where we grew all kinds of vegetables. We raised dairy goats and chickens, which provided us with fresh milk and eggs (and even fresh meat occasionally but that wasn’t all that great of a concept to us kids). We also had a horse, rabbits, ducks, geese, dogs and barn cats, as well. My siblings and I, spent lots of time weeding and tending the garden or caring for all of our animals…milking goats, cleaning stalls and pens, feeding and watering animals…along with just being kids and playing with all of them t00.

But I do remember spending a lot of time up in the loft of the barn to hide out. My sister and I were constantly being kicked outside so that we would put down our books and go play! Which would turn out to be us sneaking our books out of the house and going to read up in the loft. We spent hours upon hours up in the loft reading books like Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables series, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Chronicles of Narnia and many more…all under the guise of going outside to play.

We spent so much time up in the loft, that a couple of times I remember us bringing the vacuum up there to clean out the cob webs and spider webs! We used bales of hay as furniture and we would set up our ‘couch’ by the window of the loft so that we could get some fresh air and a breeze, as well as have advance notice if we needed to stash our books. It was a pretty great place cause we knew our parents couldn’t actually get up there. The cats would keep us company and I even remember that once, one of the cats had her kittens up there…so we got to spend some extra time with the tiny kittens when we went up there to play.

I wish I had a loft to play in these days! At the moment, I don’t have a loft to hide out in…but throughout the years I have worked in many different horse barns and have searched out lofts and hay rooms to sort of relive my childhood moments…nothing like spending your break time hiding in a a stack of hay with a book!

Saturday Smile #5

smile1Saturday Smile is a weekly feature hosted over on Feeding on Folly that I like to participate in because I think everyone can benefit from having more smiles in their life!

Today’s Saturday Smile post shares some images from two years ago (as well as more recently) when my youngest dog, Maggie Mae, first came home. Thanks to Facebook, I was reminded of ‘my memories’ this week and that my youngest dog we welcomed home on August 20, 2013! How time flies!!

Maggie Mae is an Australian Shepherd and just turned two at the end of June. She is a typical little sister, who enjoys tormenting her big brother, Sawyer Brown, at all times! She enjoys treats of all kinds, stealing the ball away from Sawyer Brown, and ‘giving kisses’ to her kitties, Oreo and Spencer. She has the most adorable little freckles on her nose…which mange to keep her out of any serious trouble, because you just look at that little face and you can’t stay mad at her for long!

Now for some cute puppy pics to make you smile on this Saturday…

The summer has been kind of busy for me and so I haven’t had much time to spend with my ‘big girl’ camera (Nikon D5300) but I do leave it sitting out near my deck so that I can grab it whenever I get a few minutes to myself. However, it has been a few weeks since I have been able to get them from the camera onto my computer and check them out and do some editing.

This afternoon I managed a little bit of time to take some photos and download them all to my computer. Consequently, today’s featured images for Fav Foto Friday will be a few of the images of my feathered visitors over the last few weeks. I am still loving my birdfeeders I hung off my deck earlier this year, which makes for fun subject matter to photograph.

My favorite one, of the ones I have managed to edit with Lightroom, so far, is this House Finch. I just love seeing these little ones through the telephoto lens of my camera. You get to see them ‘up close’ and see all of their little expressions.

The image exif data is: Nikon D5300|Tamron 70-300|ISO800|300mm|/f 5.6|1/1000 sec

And just cause one, is never enough…here are a few more for your viewing pleasure.

I never get tired of photographing these little guys…so I am sure you will be seeing more of these once I get some time to go through them and do some editing.
