This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday is just a glimpse at the things that amuse me with my critters. Checking on the ferrets is always an opportunity for a smile. There is no guessing of what you may see when you sneak up on them unawares. This one was particularly amusing to me the other day!

Silly Sleeping Ferrets

And these are just a few other compromising positions that I always find amusing! They are more often than not just in a huge heap on the bottom of there cage. Of course there are 5 other levels with comfy beds and hammocks and such on that mom spends all her extra money to buy for them…but they apparently think that a ferrety pig pile is much more comfortable.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Seasons

The Weekly Photo Challenge hosted at The Daily Post for this week is Seasons and couldn’t help but want to participate.

I love all the seasons! I am so grateful to have lived most of my life in New England where each season is a distinct and a unique time of year. If questioned I would probably say that Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons of the year, as I am more of a moderate weather kind of person. Yet I love the heat of the summer when you can have fun in the sun and play in the ocean or the ‘smell of snow’ and the bitter cold of the winter when you can hibernate by the fire with a good book.

I love the beauty and rebirth of the spring. The joy of shedding layers of clothing and to feel the sunshine on your skin again even if for only a few hours during the middle of the day. The first daffodils of the year with their happy yellow blooms.

I love that I have lived relatively close to the ocean or a body of water most of my life so that in the heat of the summer there is some escape from the oppressive heat that sometime sticks around for a bit longer than we would like in the summer. The ocean is both magnificent and powerful, as well as peaceful and tranquil.

After a long hot summer, I look forward to the chill in the air that creeps in during the fall. The mildly warm days and chilly evenings that require a sweater. I love all the comfort foods that are so tempting and available during the fall. And I can’t wait for Thanksgiving.

And then there is winter. I am one of the few that actually still gets excited about the ‘smell of snow’ and waking up to a blanket of white covering the world and the possibility of snow cancellations. Getting up early with my dogs and going out while it is still snowing and just listening to freshly fallen snow. It has a sound all of its own that is so peaceful.

Winter 2016 has been relatively mild so far…however this ‘season’ of my life has been a season of upheaval, as I lost my Mom at the end of Oct. 2015 and I have been longing for more time to just hibernate and lick my wounds. Yet, this year, we have had unseasonably warm days and few actual snow falls that amounted to anything…which makes for not a very good season of hibernation.

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday features Dumb & Dumber…a loving nickname to my 2 canines! Ok…their names are not really Dumb and Dumber…this is Sawyer Brown and Maggie Mae.

They actually are not really dumb either…quite the opposite in fact…but they are inseparable and constantly very busy getting into some kind of mischief. It is a rare occasion that I can get the 2 of them in a picture where they ‘look’ like they are resting and without food being waved above their heads 😉

They know they are not really allowed on the bed…mostly because they think it is a wrestling ring…so the fact that they were able to sit still for a cute photo op, for approximately 2.3 seconds is an impressive feat. And definitely deserves making a Fav Foto Friday post.

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday are some photos from this past weekend. I was asked by a good friend of mine from church if I could talk about pets to her daughter’s Brownie troop so they could earn their pet badge and without hesitation I immediately said yes!! I love her girls and I am always up for talking about animals.

It was decided that maybe the ferrets and my sugar gliders could be enough excitement and yet still manageable. So all last week I was actually very excited about this little venture! My dorkiness took over and I created informative handouts about ferrets and sugar gliders for the girls. And then Saturday morning I packed up my nine ferrets and headed over to my church (thankfully only 5 minutes away!) to get all my ‘kids’ set up before the girls showed up.

It was such a fun morning!! For myself, the girls and the ferrets especially! The sugar gliders might have been a bit overwhelmed with all the new smells and such…but were good little critters and all the girls loved having a chance to hold the bonding pouch against their tummies and quiet and calm Mr. Crabby Pants.

My friend’s youngest daughter (pictured here) was especially brave and excited about the whole day. She loved all the animals and was so good with them! I’m sensing a kindred spirit in this little one, which endeared me to her even more!

And just cause I love her little giggle…this is a video of her laughing cause…

“Ferrets tickle!”

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday are photos of the snow on the trees after the snowfall this morning. As the sun came out and the sun hit all the snow on the branches in the trees, it made it look like the trees were all sparkling! It was beautiful! The photos probably don’t do it justice but it was an attempt at capturing a beautiful moment. And also after a sort of gray morning while the snow was falling, the blue skies after the storm was equally beautiful to see.

I am probably one of the few who still enjoys to see the snow come. Especially this year as we go into February with only 2 snowfalls so far, which is pretty remarkable for New England. I enjoy going out early with my dogs and just feeling the peace and beauty of everything covered in whiteness. I enjoy taking the first steps onto freshly fallen snow and the quietness of my little world blanketed in snow.
