This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday are photos of our very fickle weather! Last week it was crocuses and daffodils and this week is complete with the effects of the ‘Nor’easter that was threatening the North East’ last weekend. As predicted, the snow didn’t really stick around but it was especially pretty in the morning. Maybe because we all knew it wouldn’t stick around for long that it seemed to look especially beautiful…and then by midday the temps were in the 50s (Farenheit) and there was no trace of snow anywhere!

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday is proof that spring is near…despite the fact that news reports tell me that there is a ‘significant Nor’easter targeting the east coast‘ for this weekend.

This brave little crocus was enjoying the chilly morning sunshine at the base of a tree near where I parked my car the other day. I  appreciate the coming of spring more and more each year. I love to see the buds popping up everywhere you look.

First little purple crocus of spring

And Spring arose on the garden fair,

Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;

Each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast

Rose from the dreams of it’s wintry rest.

And because I especially love daffodils…another photo of a bunch of daffodils a friend gave me last weekend when a bunch of us got together. I have enjoyed watching them open and bloom at my kitchen window all week. And they smell so pretty!!

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday is a photo from a couple of weeks ago on a rare snowy day. We haven’t had too many snowy days this winter and even as I write this post the windows are open and the temps are in the 70s….IN MARCH???

On this particular day, I had no where to be and was able to spend some time enjoying the peace and quiet of an early morning snow fall. Took my dogs out early to enjoy the quietness of the morning…and for them to enjoy wrestling and playing in the snow. Then I spent a good portion of the morning taking photos of the birds out at my feed. So many little ones busily getting breakfast. This little one was waiting patiently on the railing for a spot to clear at the feeder.

This week’s edition of Fav Foto Friday theme is the ‘power of mother nature.’ Last week we had a pretty big rain and wind storm during the night. Other than a bunch of twigs littering our driveway and the fact that the river behind our house was pretty high and rushing I didn’t really think much of it.

Later that day though as I was driving to my pet sitting client’s houses a number of times I ended up having to turn around and find a different route as there was yet another detour due to trees down. On my way back from my last client for the afternoon I drove by this tree which just sort of caught me by surprise as I drove past it and the root base was taller than my car! I couldn’t resist turning around one more time and coming back for some pics for Fav Foto Friday.

It is sort of amazing and sad and awe inspiring all at once when seeing a massive tree just knocked over by the power of a wind storm.
