Monday’s Musings…Coloring

This past week I happened to read a blog post over at the Creative Cookbook about ‘adult coloring books’ and she happened to have some very tempting photos from Barnes & Noble of a table full of coloring book for adults! Of course, seeing how I was reading it in the middle of the night because I couldn’t sleep, it wasn’t exactly possible to run on over to B&N right then and there…but thanks to the magic of the World Wide Web…I could go check them out online 🙂

So…look what just showed up at my house…

Adult Coloring Books

I did actually hear about adult coloring books before reading about them this week. I am not a big news watching person, but a couple of times just recently I have heard about adult coloring books featured on radio and TV news programs and how stores were not able to keep them in stock because of the recent adult coloring book epidemic.

Before the recent coloring book epidemic about 2 years ago, I had a guy friend of mine mention in conversation that he wished that there were coloring books for adults because he thought it would be a fun way to pass the time. He has his own house painting business and is very good with colors…so I thought he really would probably enjoy them.

Shortly after our little conversation, I went online to Amazon (cause that is my preferred way to shop for everything!!) and sure enough, there were coloring books for adults! You can even narrow down your search for ‘manly’ coloring books…like classic cars, American Muscle Cars and Victorian Houses. I proceeded to order some manly coloring books and some colored pencils and sent them on to my friend.

He called me up when he received them and was so excited about his coloring books! It was so cute! He said it was one of the best gifts anyone has ever given him.

Of course, while I was ordering coloring books for him…there may have been a few ‘girly’ coloring books that ended up in my cart for myself. And of course, one can not order a coloring book (or a few coloring books) with out getting a new box of crayons or https://www.amazon.com/Crayola-Colored-Pencils-Projects-Coloring/dp/B00000J0S3/ref=as_li_ss_tl?&linkCode=ll1&tag=scribblesandm-20&linkId=e03dc9d0025c1e57415617aa147b44a3.

Just because we are ‘all grown up’ doesn’t mean you can’t spend a little time to de-stress by coloring 🙂

  1. Sandy, I was filled with GLEE reading this! Of course, it was nice to be mentioned here :), but what excited me most was that my post sparked you to do this AND now I know there are also male-oriented coloring books for guys, too! This is so exciting 🙂 I’m definitely buying one. I almost want to drop everything I’m doing and go to B&N just for that! lol

  3. There are coloring paper tablecloths. I used them for my friend’s 70th birthday party with crayons at each place setting. I refer to my own book, A Berkshire Tale, as an adult/children’s book. We’re never too old to enjoy things we loved as a kid. Have fun!
