Today’s post is inspired by a feature that I found over on MyRedPage.
The challenge is about sharing your thoughts behind the quote of the week…it will be your choice the way you do it, it is your echo. Write a story…capture the words in a photo or come up with a new quote which shares the same topic!
This week’s quote is “The choices we take shapes the journey we take.”
So often I wonder about how different my life might have been, if only I had done things differently. Not so much because my life has turned out so awful…my life is not perfect…but it is alright. When you are alone with your thoughts though, it is easy for the mind to wander and wonder…where might I have been if I had made different choices in life…
- going to college vs. getting a job right out of high school?
- where to live?
- career choices…going for a good paying job vs. doing something I liked?
- boyfriends?
- friends?
Just one of these choices could have been made differently and I would have been on an entirely different journey?!?! It is kind of an awesome and scary thought…just one choice could have been changed…and the journey changes…
Of course this also immediately brings to my mind the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Part of my job at my church, as Office Administrator, has been to help our church into the Age of Technology and help with our social media presence. One such task is to schedule or post some of my minister’s Morning Prayers that he sends out by email to our Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages. I try to find images that inspire or depict God’s creation. I’m not sure if anyone has noticed or not but I seem to have an infatuation with images of pathways…and I think that is because my mind is always wandering ‘down the road not taken’ or wondering about what I may be missing because of the the choices I’ve taken.

“The choices we take shapes the journey we take”
Love the poem, and like you, I’m drawn to road and path-like pictures simply because I know there is so much more of my journey to come…..I’ve made some good and bad choices in my life, and when I’ve been asked if I’d change anything, my answer is always no. I know that I am here, in my now, because of them, and quite honestly, I love where I am Now….
I don’t know if I ‘love’ where I am…lol…but it is what it is 🙂
You can’t think that way…the choices you made make you who you are today and for that you should be thankful 🙂

It’s a beautiful poem. We make some choices, some choices are made for us…but the path that we end up following makes us who we are.
