The joys of preparing to go away! I am furiously spending today cleaning and organizing and trying to make sure everything is in order before we venture off for our ‘big’ (I use this word loosely!) yearly vacation!
Each year we go down to Wildwood, NJ for the Roar to the Shore bike run. I am not a biker…and I’m not really sure my boyfriend is really a biker anymore…but regardless this is our ‘big’…3 day vacation each year. It is time near the ocean and to enjoy doing nothing for 3 whole days!
To be honest, I am not really sure I could handle much more time away than that. We end up spending most of our time away saying how we miss the dogs and the rest of the menagerie. But it is nice to get away from the constant busy-ness of home. Where you can ignore the phone a little bit more, or not be so connected to emails and Facebook and just enjoy some time doing stuff…even if that stuff doesn’t look all that much like busy-ness.
We enjoy spending time on the beach or in the pool at the hotel and riding bikes on the boardwalk and eating out at places that are a little different than where we eat at home. And as much as we love our menagerie and spend most of our time missing them while we are away…it is sort of nice to not have any ‘animal’ chores to do…feeding, walking or cleaning up after some living being.
Of course before all the vacationing happens…there is a whole lot of busy-ness in order to get ready to leave for these few days. List and instructions to write up for the person looking after the menagerie, pet food to prepare and set up so it is as easy as possible to care fore everyone, not to mention the regular cleaning to do so that…one, people coming in to look after the animals don’t think we live in a pig sty and two, when I come home the house doesn’t look even more like a pig sty!
So as much as I would like to spend some more time online…I should probably get back to finishing up all these chores I have created for myself so that I can enjoy my few days off!
Hope you have a great time! And just think, the trip away will give you new fodder for one, maybe two blog posts! 😃
